Subject Area

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 266153560
This project deals with the reduction behavior of substituent-freepolypnictogene ligand complexes (En ligand complexes), which is anarea that has so far been completely disregarded when investigatingthe reactivity of En ligand complexes before this project. As reductionagents, s-block metals, but in particular f-elements, are used, leadingto products with an unprecedented structure via novel reaction typesopening up a new chapter in the organometallic chemistry of thismultifaceted class of substances. In the first phase of this project, inparticular polyphosphorus ligand complexes such as for instance[Cp*Fe(η5-P5)] were employed, and first polyarsenic complexes wereincluded in these investigations leading to novel anionicpolypnictogenide complexes, but particularly to unprecedented 3d-4fmetalpolypnictogenide complexes. In the prolongation of the project, these works will be systematically continued and finalized with aspecial focus on the application of polyarsenic complexes but also ofpolystibane and polybismutane ligand complexes, respectively. Inaddition, the reaction behavior of En ligand complexes towardsnucleophiles (2-electron donators and formal related to 2 electronreductants) of main group elements and d-block-based organometalliccompounds, respectively, is systematically studied, and selectedsubsequent reactions are investigated. Thus, En ligand complexesbecome valuable building blocks in the organometallic chemistry of f-,s-, and d-block elements, respectively.
