This experimental project is focused on thermal transport properties of insulating frustrated magnets. From the longitudinal heat conductivity, we expect information on low-energy spectral features as well as on scattering processes, and we will in particular study the strong spin-phonon interaction in Kitaev systems. The transverse heat conductivity and its relation to topological edge states have been heavily debated recently, and we will perform systematic measurements in order to contribute to a fundamental understanding. In addition, we will explore the possibility of switchable spin transport in chiral magnetic structures.
