Mapping out materials properties from first principles (A05)

Subject Area Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 247310070

Project Description

This project will apply first-principles calculations to provide microscopic insights into the electronic structure and magnetic properties of real materials. We will focus on two families of magnetic insulators---undoped cuprates and cobaltates---and on magnetic Weyl semimetals. The calculated band structures, topological invariants, Berry curvature, and magnetic exchange couplings will serve as a basis for the further development of material-oriented many-particle models and effective Hamiltonians.
