Project Details
Itinerant electrons on frustrated lattices (A03)
Subject Area
Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 247310070
The project aims at a fundamental understanding of frustrated magnetic systems that have itinerant charge carriers, in particular to identify and predict the presence of topologically nontrivial states, by using primarily numerical methods. The model Hamiltonians relevant to the questions to be investigated, which also capture the essential low-energy physical properties of materials of interest, broadly fall into two classes: Kondo-lattice models describing itinerant electrons that interact with localized spins as well as (multi-orbital) Hubbard-type models where electrons have partly itinerant and partly localized character.
