Plastic-based integration of functionalized substrates with piezo modules in components for high volume production (T02)

Subject Area Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term from 2014 to 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 21440441

Project Description

Active lightweight structures can be manufactured in high-volume rate through the integration of metal or thermoplastic prepreg sheets with fixed CRC/TR 39 piezo modules in the injection molding process. In this way, the polymer based forming can be efficiently combined with the embedding of sensors in the injection molded parts. The explored CRC/TR 39 piezo modules already possess metallic or plastic-based support materials and are partly manufactured in micro injection molding technique which offers particular advantages in the implementation of shortened process chains.
