The joint collaboration will be on the research topic The Logics of Truth. The focus will be on formal theories of truth, combining methods from nonclassical logic and axiomatic theories of truth. The concrete aim is to give new theories of truth that can avoid the paradoxes associated with the unrestricted T-schema. Such theories are possible when based on so-called substructural logics, and the research network will explore the advantages and disadvantages of such approaches. The formal theories aim to give an account not only of the extension of truth, but of the logic of truth - how we ought to reason with the truth predicate. The contention is that such a theory is best developed with proof theoretic approaches. The collaboration aims to bring together researchers from the University of Buenos Aires and LMU Munich. The joint research topic is The Logics of Truth. If funded, the project will initiate research collaboration through (I) a series of workshops tied to the project schedule (see below); (II) extended visits between the two institutions where researchers will work in joint seminars, give work in progress talks, and offer tutorials. The collaboration will chiefly seek to output high quality, peer-reviewed publications in international journals, but also disseminate original research to the wider community through video podcasts recorded during workshops. Ultimately, the collaboration is meant to establish a long-standing connection between the two research centres.
