This project should be seen in the context of the master plan for the digitization of the National bibliography of German imprints of the 17th century, especially the digitization of unique imprints (masterplan type 1) as well as the digitization of imprints from particular regions (master plan type 2). The aim of the project is the digitization of 8.000-9.000 imprints with about 900.000 pages (in the 3rd year about 3.500 imprints with about 300.000 pages). The digital publications will incorporate structural data which will facilitate the usability of the publications on the Internet. The imprints, which are particularly valuable either because of their uniqueness or because of their significance for the region, will be provided in permanent open access via various national and international databases for the purpose of study and research.
