Project Description

The major contribution of this project to the Research Unit is the development, construction, and evaluation of electronic neuromorphic systems where the memristors are directly integrated as devices with synaptic plasticity on the same chip as the neuron circuits. Thereby, the potential and possibilities of neuromorphic systems built using these circuits can be demonstrated. Main methods are design and test of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), simulations of networks on system and circuit level, as well as construction, fabrication, and evaluation of systems on printed-circuit boards (PCBs). The integration is done in several steps, starting with small circuits for proof of concept and finishing with the completion of a midsize neuromorphic system for unsupervised pattern learning, recognition, and completion.
