In the first funding period we built up a Research Training Group comprising all geo-Q PhD students. It provides a broad education by combining learning on-the-job with specialised lectures, with transferable skills courses, and with lecture weeks. With this concept, our PhD students working on experimental projects also gain basic knowledge in the theoretical fields of geo-Q and theorists learn the basics of the experimental fields. This is a very efficient way of creating a group spirit in geo-Q. In the next funding period we will adapt the curriculum to the changing needs of a mature geo-Q.
