Project Details
Reduction of striations and dross in laser fusion cutting by modelling and simulation of the highly dynamical melt flow (A09)
Subject Area
Production Automation and Assembly Technology
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236616214
The aim of this subproject is to improve the process understanding in laser fusion cutting of metallic mate-rials by model- and simulation-based analysis of the highly dynamic processes in the melt. The technical objective is to produce high-precision, dross-free, high-quality cuts and to reduce the roughness of the cut edges by an order of magnitude in line with the state of the art. Modeling and simulation are used to identify and investigate measures to stabilize the melt flow and homogenize the subsequent solidification of the melt on the cutting edges.
