Project Details
Utilization of partial metallurgical injection for regulation of solidification forces in fusion welding processes (A07)
Subject Area
Joining and Separation Technology
Term
since 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236616214
In this subproject, compressive stresses are selectively generated by partial metallurgical manipulation with Low Transformation Temperature (LTT) weld metal. This is done by local volume expansion initiated by delayed martensitic phase transformation at reduced temperature. The focus is on distortion compensation through process control of martensitic phase transformation for targeted thermal strain control in the beam welding process. For this purpose, a simulation model is developed and used to predict residual stresses.
