Project Details
Impact of host variation in the SCARB1 gene and SR-BI ligands on the development and maintenance of chronic hepatitis C (C07)
Subject Area
Virology
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 158989968
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) cell entry requires a complex interplay between the incoming virion and host cell expressed factors. In the past, others and we have identified scavenger receptor class B member 1 (SR-BI), low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), CD81 and the CD81 associated molecules calpain-5 and CBLB as host factors involved in HCV entry. In this project, we will evaluate their interactions during the early phase of HCV cell entry and how this is modulated by genetic variation and pharmacological interventions.
