TRPC cation channels in hypoglycemia-associated autonomic nervous system failure in diabetes models (B02)

Subject Area Pharmacology
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term from 2014 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236360313

Project Description

In B02 we aim to identify relevant neurons and neuroendocrine cells in the brain stem and adrenal medulla, respectively, that rely on TRPC channels during sympatho-adrenal counter-regulation to hypoglycemia. TRPC channel functions and their impact for cellular Ca2+ homeostasis and Ca2+ dependent exocytosis of catecholamines will be analysed. Based on hitherto and further metabolome studies the project aims to develop new interventional therapeutic approaches for „Hypoglycemia-associated autonomic failure“.
