Effective models for materials and interfaces with multiple scales (C05)

Subject Area Mathematics
Term from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 235221301

Project Description

This project develops analytical techniques for the mathematical study of discrete or continuous materials, where we focus on models with variational structures. In particular, we advance the methods for static and evolutionary Gamma convergence based on well-chosen model problems. The variational structures are derived from thermodynamic or stochastic principles. The considered applications include processes in periodic or stochastic materials or interfaces, such as friction or spatiotemporal chemical master equations.
