TRPC1 function in Ca2+ homeostasis (P01)

Subject Area Pharmacology
Term from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 239283807

Project Description

We are studying TRPC1’s molecular properties and systemic functions: We show that the TRPC1-dependent cytoplasmic Ca2+ signature controls the secretion of growth hormone (GH) by pituitary cells, thereby determines GH-related signaling which in turn controls metabolism and body homeostasis. To discriminate between TRPC1’s action on pituitary cells regulating GH/IGF-1 signaling in body homeostasis and its action in peripheral tissues, we will study cell-autonomous functions of TRPC1 employing 2 new mouse strains generated by us. At the same time, we will determine the cell-specific molecular “make-up” of TRPC1 containing protein complexes in close collaboration with P02.
