Type A influenza virus (IAV) infects respiratory epithelia via different endocytotic mechanisms. We have estab-lished infection systems for different IAV strains and morphotypes (spheroidal vs filamentous) in cell lines and primary cells, and followed IAV infection by super-resolution microscopy, including recruitment of restriction factors. We have also identified changes in sphingolipid binding upon IAV infection. We will now determine the rele-vance of these changes in lipid protein interactions. We will also determine the mode of spread for different IAV morphotypes using high end light and electron microscopy, including infection of 3D organoids.
