Goal of this application is the acquisition of the correspondence between Martin Heidegger and his brother Fritz Heidegger in order to preserve the letters and make them accessible for international research. The correspondence includes 572 handwritten letters (about 1250 pages ), 36 postcards from Martin Heidegger, written between 1926 and 1976 with attachments. Among them are 5 handwritten poems. Furthermore, there are 75 letters from Elfriede Heidegger to Fritz Heidegger, some of them with postscripts by Martin Heidegger as weil as 33 letters from Fritz Heidegger to Martin Heidegger. This correspondence is Martin Heidegger's largest and perhaps most important correspondence. The unpublished letters are important sources for any biographical and philosophical research. They will transform the image of the philosopher.
