This proposal is based on a collaboration of the Institute of Electrical and Optical Communications Engineering (INT) and the Institute of Telecommunications (INUE) of the University of Stuttgart. During the previous project "Electrical key components for high-bitrate optical OFDM systems" we successfully designed a realtime OFDM transmitter ASIC that reaches 165 Gbit/s on one polarization. Currently, the ASIC is prepared for production by the INT.For testing the functionalitiy of the ASIC we plan to design an according receiver in order to analyze the signal generated by the ASIC. This is necessary because OFDM signals resemble noise and cannot be analysed using an oscilloscope only. Furthermore, an optical transmission experiment is planned demonstrating, for the first time, bitrates considerably higher than 100 Gbit/s on one polarization using a realtime OFDM transmitter.
