Project Details
Structural and cellular characterization of bone marrow interfaces under the influence of adi-pogen factors in bone replacement material testing ((16) B11)
Subject Area
Orthopaedics, Traumatology, Reconstructive Surgery
Term
from 2014 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 107540325
In B11, the interaction of adipokines and free fatty acids concerning osteoporosis and osseointegration of biomaterials is under investigation. The detailed analysis of osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells with and without spongiosa transfer with regard to adipokines and osteoprotective drugs shall be completed. Moreover the influence of visfatin to the adiopogenic and osteogenic cell differentiation at the biomaterials interface is under investigation. In an osteoporotic animal model, the effect of visfatin alteration will be evaluated. By using mass spectrometric imaging we will analyse the lipid composition of the cell membrane and in bone itself after contact with biomaterials and adipokines.
