Final Report Abstract

In this project two versions for a module with wake-up receiver were designed and evaluated for the usage in a distributed wireless sensor network. The modules were realized as small PCBs that fit on top of the sensor network PCB without limiting its operability. For the wireless sensor network, Feuerwhere nodes from the group of Professor Kraemer were used. They were planned to use the wake-up trigger signal to realize an energy-efficient communication scheme. In the first module a costum ASIC from the DFG project BATS (FOR1508) was used. In the second module a commercial ASIC was evaluated for the usage in the wireless sensor network. The design of the modules were conducted by students. Both of the modules did not work as expected, so that they can not be used in the projected way. Two ways to circumvent these problems were proposed for possible future work.
