Molecular integration of light- and sugar-regulated alternative splicing (C03)

Subject Area Plant Genetics and Genomics
Plant Physiology
Term from 2014 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 232631280

Key players regulating light- and sugar-induced alternative splicing in etiolated seedlings will be determined. Phosphoproteome studies in wild type and candidate kinase mutant seedlings upon light or sugar exposure will pinpoint the splicing regulators involved in this process. The specific functions of these factors and their changes in the phosphorylation status in regulating the AS output will be analyzed. A particular focus will be put on the functional consequences of alterations in the phosphorylation of splicing regulators. Furthermore, other trans-acting factors and the cis-regulatory elements orchestrating light- and sugar-regulated alternative splicing will be identified.
