The project focuses on the nexus of constructing the "house" as a "secure space" and gender integration in early modern notions of societal security. It analyses the impact of architectural borders, their normative ascription and the practices of demarcation resp. bounder crossing which are linked to the former. The focus on boundaries between house and public space and on their specific characteristics enables the analysis of gender related mechanisms of in- and exclusion in processes of securitization in Early Modern Age.
