The comparative and transfer study investigates security heuristics and repertoires among the police and the corresponding police security regimes in Frankfurt/Main and Munich in the Weimar Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1960s and 1970s. The project analyses the competencies attributed to the police as a security actor in urban space. What consequences did the police draw from its actions and how did it act in fields of action labelled as relevant for security? Basically, this raises the question about the extent to which police actions reflected security-relevant heuristics and were able to evoke and shape specific repertoires.
