Project Details
Chemical tools from protein class-specific supramolecular ligands (A02)
Subject Area
Biological and Biomimetic Chemistry
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 229838028
In this project we aim at developing chemical tools for investigating the function of selected proteins from larger protein families. To this end, we will generate a chemical tool library consisting of target protein selective modulators via chemical optimization of previously established protein class-specific supramolecular ligands. Selected protein-selective ligands will be further functionalized by incorporation of additional chemical units such as fluorophores for in cell tracking applications or ‘trimethyl lock’ building blocks for their functional deactivation upon external triggers. To facilitate their application in cell biological research questions, we will characterize the biological activity of selected members of the chemical tools library by modern (phospho)proteomics methodologies.
