Project Description

The sub-project examines dynastic marriage policy and marriage contracts of the early modern period from the perspective of securitisation. Marriage policy marked security problems (heuristics) and also referred to their solution (repertoire). Working assignment 1 will conclude the digital indexing of European marriage contracts. Working assignment 2 examines intercultural marriage politics of Spanish and indigenous actors during the emergence of the colonial empire in Central America. Working assignment 3 focuses on interconfessional princely marriages as a normative security problem. Working assignment 4 aims at a synthesis based on the results from all funding periods.
