The aim of the project is to collect (as much as possible) Mongolic loan elements in historical and modern Turkic languages (lexemes and morphemes). The collected data will be investigated with respect to the age of the borrowing into Turkic and to phonetic and semantic changes durind the process of borrowing. Furthermore, it is of interest to map the distribution of the Mongolic borrowings in the historical and modern Turkic languages. By an careful analysis of the distribution of the Mongolic borrowings and their treatment in Turkic one can gain new informations about the nature of the Turkic-Mongolic relations. Furthermore, this work promises to produce new data to the internal development of Turkic and its different subgroups. If possible, the linguistic changes and developments shall be connected with historical ongoings.
