The DFG-funded system of ‘Specialised Information Services‘ (FID) aims at providing German academic user communities with research-specific digital content and information services for their highly specialised demand. In order to support the FIDs a framework for the licensing of electronic resources was set up within the system, which is run by a centre of competence for the licensing of electronic resources (KfL). The KfL has successfully been established as a centralised service infrastructure for the FIDs. In spring 2019 the KfL gained a positive evaluation by the DFG. Subsequently, the three partnering libraries running the KfL were acknowledged to continue the successful service infrastructure. This also includes shaping the KfL into an active player within the context of the FID system. With that in mind, further project activities will concentrate on the continuation of the service infrastructure including license negotiations and provision of digital content for the specialised purposes of the FIDs. A particular focus will be on ensuring the permanent availability of (meta)data and content, along with driving forward innovative open access solutions for subscription-based content in all areas of the publishing process (i.e. open access transformation).
