Project Details
Theoretical and experimental investigation on the devolatilisation and oxidation of solid-fuel particles in a counterflow burner under oxy-fuel conditions (B01)
Subject Area
Technical Thermodynamics
Term
since 2013
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215035359
The gas-phase combustion chemistry of light volatiles and selected tar components from the devolatilisation process of pulverized biomass fuels are investigated in counterflow diffusion flames using different state-of-the-art chemical analysis techniques. Based on the detailed speciation data, gasphase kinetic models for the use in largescale simulations that describe the combustion chemistry under oxy-fuel conditions are proposed, validated, and optimised. A specific focus is on the formation of pollutants, such as oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, soot, and nitric oxides.
