Project Details
Toxicity and analytics of native and drug-loaded nanocarriers (Z01)
Subject Area
Pharmacology
Term
from 2013 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 234930468
This is continued as a central task of SFB 1112. Its relevance and central importance has been underscored during the first funding period. A panel of in vitro tests has been established in the first funding period of SFB 1112 in order to assess the possible toxic behavior of nanocarriers. This includes toxicity assays, such as measurements of cytotoxicity, necrosis, apoptosis, irritation of skin, but also the genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of nanocarriers. The analytical technology of choice for studies on nanocarrier-mediated drug penetration is mass spectrometry, which allows for the sensitive quantification of drugs and metabolites.
