Phages as Vectors and Indicators of Biological Information: Selective Transport and Consequences for Nutrient Release and Cycling (PHAGE III) (A01)

Subject Area Microbial Ecology and Applied Microbiology
Term from 2013 to 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 218627073

Project Description

Project A01 studies the selective transport of soil viral taxa and the impact of the mycosphere and viral–host interactions on the lysis-driven release of particulate and dissolved compounds. A01 also identifies groundwater bacteria using these compounds as nutrients. To this end, A01 combines transport studies, the description of released compounds, and viral metagenome analyses. Moreover, it synthesizes the current knowledge on the subsurface virosphere in a meta-analysis using virome and metagenome data.
