Investigation of intracellular activities of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) and sphingosine using S1P lyase-deficiency as a model (B07)

Subject Area Pharmacology
Term since 2013
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 204083920

Project Description

General aim is the identification and characterization of intracellular activities of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) and sphingosine in models of S1P lyase (Sgpl1) deficiency. We will address the role of Sgpl1 in adipocytes and endothelial cells. Furthermore, we aim at identifying the factors leading to cholesterol accumulation in Sgpl1-deficient human fibroblasts. Finally, we will continue to assess the role of plasma membrane Ca2+ ATPase in regulation of cellular Ca2+ homeostasis by Sgpl1.
