The project "Cloud-based infrastructure for library data" (CIB) run by the German library consortia of Hesse (HeBIS), Bavaria (BVB), and Berlin-Brandenburg (KOBV) aims at a reform of the traditional division of tasks between local library systems and union catalogue systems. As a result cataloguing as well as local system functions will largely be transferred to international platforms. The article points out the central points of the project and describes its actual state of affairs
