Investigation of interfaces between organic and metal-organic charge transfer materials by means of electronic transport measurements

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2013 to 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236195716

Recent photoemission spectroscopy results have shown a charge transfer between thin films of manganese and cobalt phthalocyanine molecules. The charge transfer at the interface of these molecules could significantly influence electronic transport properties of the system. Therefore, the main goal of the present project is the investigation and the understanding of the interplay between the charge transfer and electrical conductance at the interfaces of manganese and cobalt phthalocyanines. For this purpose, several structures containing thin films and/or single crystals of these molecules will be prepared and studied. Moreover, interactions between phthalocyanine molecules and well-known charge transfer organic single crystal semiconductors (TCNQ, TTF) will be investigated. Here, one can expect charge transfer effects leading to changes in the conductance at the interface of the two materials.
