Project Description

Ground based LIDAR gives the opportunity to measure surface changes in a very high spatial and temporal resolution. During the submitted project, the erosion of steep and (partly) unvegetated slopes in four different climatic regions (cross profile from the Franconian Alb over the Alps to Tuscany) will be measured using Ground-based LIDAR. Using the data of these measurements, the importance of single geomorphic processes for the total erosion under different climatic conditions on such slopes and the interactions between these processes will be analysed in detail. On the basis of this data, both an empirical (SCA model) and a physical (Erosion 3D) model will be calibrated and validated in order to adapt them to fit the investigated slopes.
