Project Description

The aim of this project is to analyze the metastability phenomenon in interacting particle systems and spin systems at low temperatures. In particular, we study local mean field models, that is models with long-range interactions. Using a combination of potential theoretic methods and the theory of Wasserstein gradient flows, we intend to obtain sharp estimates on transition times between metastable states in the limit of large systems in the entire low-temperature regime. Another class of models we will consider are spin systems on random graphs and networks.
