Statistical mechanics for lattice models of elasticity (A04)

Subject Area Mathematics
Term from 2013 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 211504053

Project Description

The goal of this project is a mathematical rigorous approach to the statistical mechanics of solids. So far rigorous results for the free energy of discrete systems which are consistent with the fundamental symmetries of elasticity have been obtained, using a renormalization approach of Brydges et al. In the next funding period finer properties such as asymptotic Gaussianity of the limiting Gibbs measure will be investigated. The analysis will also be extended to thin films.
