Project Details
Offset and inkjet printing of multimode waveguides (B01)
Subject Area
Plastics Engineering
Term
from 2013 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 210420491
Flexographic printing allows for large-area and high-throughput production of optical multimode waveguide networks on thin polymer foils. In planar optronic systems, these networks are employed for linking light sources, detectors and sensors. In addition, the printed foils serve as an integration platform for further process steps such as protective layers and coupling structures. For printing of branched optical structures, the fluid dynamic effects of cross-sectional transitions as well as the specific properties of printed optical functional elements particularly need to be examined.
