The Study Centre August Hermann Francke – Archives and Library – preserves the major part of August Hermann Francke´s printed and handwritten works. The theologian and teacher August Hermann Francke (1663-1727) was one of the most important representatives of pietism, the first protestant renewal movement after Martin Luther´s reformation which strongly influenced the religious and cultural life in the eighteenth century. This project focusses on the enhancement of the Francke Portal on the Study Centre´s website (http://digital.francke-halle.de). In the current project, an IT infrastructure has been built up, workflows have been established and the sources (portraits, diaries, bibliography of printed works, critical editions, reference works and Francke´s library) have been presented in seven sections. In continuation of the project, the IT components of the Francke-Portal shall be improved and enhanced to a certain extent, for example by offering an interactive component. In addition, specific digital sources shall be increased, enriched by more detailed content information and interlinked. The portal´s enhancement will concentrate both on printed works as well as reference works and on handwritten diaries/ego-documents and letters (30 personal documents and 3.300 letters). Thus the scientific supply of information will be improved for the interdisciplinary research of pietism and for the humanities of the 17th and 18th century.
