Project Details
Spin crossover in oligonuclear iron(II) helicates (C06)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2013 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 60803019
We will design iron(II) complexes whose spin state can be manipulated in a defined and subtle manner in terms of a spin-crossover by a) adjusting the ligand field splitting energy through fine-tuning of the electronic and steric factors of substituents on the ligand strands, b) exploring magnetochiral effects of stereochemically defined oligonuclear iron(II) complexes, c) encapsulation of suitable molecular guest into supramolecular capsular iron(II) complexes, d) preparing oligonuclear complexes with metal ions in different coordination spheres, and e) introducing chromophors in the ligand strands¿ back-bones to study light induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) effects.
