Project Details
Molecular mechanisms of homeostatic neuronal adaptations after denervation. (B03)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2013
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 221828878
Following brain lesion, denervated neurons use multiple homeostatic mechanisms to return to their former functional state. We will (i) further characterize the regulation of homeostatic synaptic plasticity by synaptopodin and the maintenance of neuronal firing rates as control factor for the homeostatic response, (ii) focus on a newly identified player, the axon initial segment (AIS), and (iii) integrate all data gathered during the three funding periods in a single computational model to better understand the interaction of these homeostatic mechanisms.
