Project Details
Functional dual-energy CT-imaging of abdominal organs (R02)
Subject Area
Medical Physics, Biomedical Technology

Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Radiobiology
Term
from 2012 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 211469636
The aim of the project is the research on, as well as the development of and the clinical translation of innovative quantitative-functional dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) imaging for simultaneous morphological and functional tissue characterization of entire abdominal organs, i.e. a digital biopsy, without the radiation exposure associated with whole-organ CT-perfusion. This approach allows for targeted planning and optimization of therapy by means of a context-sensitive Cognitive Surgical Assistant (CoSA) for preoperative diagnostics, intraoperative decisions on surgical actions and postoperative follow-up.
