Sensing of light by the biotrophic fungus Ustilago maydis in the maize phyllosphere (E01 (A06))

Subject Area Plant Physiology
Term from 2012 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192445154

Project Description

In the first funding period we laid the basis for the photobiology of U. maydis. In the second phase we plan to continue the mechanistic work on photoreceptors in U. maydis and will shift our emphasis to the connection between light perception and pathogenic development. For this purpose we will study the effect of polychromatic and monochromatic light conditions on pathogenic development using wild-type and photoreceptor mutants and analyze the molecular and physiological events downstream of the photoreceptors.
