Project Details
Low temperature priming and memory in Arabidopsis thaliana (A03)
Subject Area
Plant Physiology
Term
from 2012 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190578797
Expsoure to low, non-freezing temperatures primes Arabidopsis thaliana for improved frost tolerance. A second (triggering) cold treatment improves frost tolerance even further, indicating cold memory. Molecular mechanisms of low temperature memory are analysed using mutant lines targeting transcription factors identified from transcriptome analyses. In addition, the role of specific metabolites and lipids in cold memory will be investigated. We will further investigate the influence of low temperature priming and triggering on the fitness of mutant lines impaired in cold memory.
