The anchoring of faith communities in welfare production is fundamental and manifold. Nonetheless there are few studies in social care service provision research which analyse the meaning and development of faith communities for local welfare production. This is the context in which the anchoring of faith communities in the paths of local welfare production in three localities is to be examined. Different dimensions will be researched in sub-projects, on the basis of a collectively gathered set of data. The sub-project I, “Local social policy and social care services”, focuses on the development of organisations in terms of their local constitution. Sub-project II, “Local employment markets in social care services”, deals with faith communities as employers and training providers. Sub-project III, “The local networking of social care services”, is concerned with the local cooperation structures and ties of institutions and organisations. The results of the three sub-projects will be contrasted continually in the course of the project, so that the parallels and differences in the respective paths of local welfare production can be collectively presented in detail.
