Multi scale modeling of the mechanical behavior of composite material system with hierarchical microstructure (A05)

Subject Area Mechanics
Term from 2012 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192346071

Project Description

The project A5 aims at modeling the nano-particle based composite containing two hierarchy levels on a continuum scale. Particularly, in the 3rd period, the deformation, damage and failure mechanisms of the composite containing particle clusters and organic matrix are investigated by micromechanical finite element simulation with representative volume elements. A material law will then be developed by homogenization, which can be used for macroscopic parts as well. A new aspect started in this period is the modeling of the manufacturing process of the second hierarchy level, for which meshless methods will be employed due to the high degree of deformation.
