The aim of the project is to investigate novel phenomena in a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with spin-orbit (SO) coupling. The main focus will be on the interplay between SO coupling and correlation effects. We will explore new properties of the collective exvitations such as plasmons, magnons, phonons, and excitons. Special attention will be devoted to the study o dissipationless spin currents in the context of the spin-Hall effect. We plan to describe theoretically the spatial structure of spin currents, which recently has been studied also experimentally.
