Project Details
Mitigating trade-offs between economic and ecological functions and services through certification (C04)
Subject Area
Economic Theory
Term
from 2012 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192626868
This project will first extend the analysis of carbon footprints of households in Jambi by integrating the production side, combining household survey information on oil palm and rubber production with data on carbon stocks as well as CO2 emissions associated with different land-use systems. The second aim of the project is to evaluate the possible contribution of palm oil certification to mitigating the trade-offs between production, income and ecological functions. We will do an impact evaluation (exploiting a randomized phase-in) of two certification schemes that are currently being implemented in the project area.
