Project Details
Role of intercellular communication processes on the function of macrophages and hepatocytes (A07)
Subject Area
Gastroenterology
Term
from 2012 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190586431
Current data from project indicate, that hepatocytes have a strong impact on macrophage polarization and that liver macrophages can be separated into at least four distinct populations. A key issue of the next funding period will therefore be an in depth characterisation of the polarization changes of these different macrophage populations during liver regeneration or during their reconstitution upon targeted depletion of distinct macrophage populations of the liver. In this context the relevance of hepatocyte-derived signals will be analysed and in particular their impact on TGFß signalling in macrophages.
