In the second funding period we will focus on nonlinear inversions for local helioseismology, which are required when flow perturbations are not weak. To limit the number of numerical solutions of forward problems, we will use preconditioned Newton-CG methods. Moreover, we will directly invert for convective Reynolds stresses from correlations of travel times, studying in particular their dependence on latitude. This will contribute to our understanding of the global dynamics of the solar convection zone.
