Assembly and local probing of single molecules on ultrathin ZnO films on metals (A02)

Subject Area Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Term from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 182087777

Project Description

The central objective of this project is to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the local geometric and electronic structure at the interface between organic and inorganic semiconductors, including defects at the single atomic/molecular level. To achieve this goal we utilize low-temperature scanning probe microscopy (STM, AFM TERS), and directly characterize ZnO surfaces of ultrathin films (a few monolayers) grown on metal substrates. Furthermore, the adsorption behaviour and opto¿electronic properties of conjugated organic molecules under UHV conditions will be studied.
